I needed a very specific effect for a multi-percussion piece—a wooden instrument that would sound like a tremolo but could also produce some defined rhythms. I searched high and low for a monk bell but couldn’t find one anywhere. I saw this instrument and thought it might be what I was looking for, and it partly met my expectations. My only comment is that I don’t think it has great projection—or at least not what I expected. I was hoping it would be louder, but for the price, I think it’s worth it.
