The 26 layers of tightly stacked suede discs on a hand-turned, tapered oak handle produce a dark, warm, full-bodied sound but with greater clarity than felt or fleece wrapped mallets. The suede has a clear, leathery attack, but also has some give to it. It is ideal for tons of general purpose playing, especially when you want a little more clarity without sacrificing low frequencies and body. This mallet performs great on everything from Tchaik 4 to Three Cornered Hat to Sousa marches.
