Great value, close but not quite like old Regals

Can't beat the value! These are much like the sadly defunct Regals but with a few key differences. First, the size of everything is slightly smaller, probably to save costs. That means that the wires and handles are shorter, and there seem to be fewer wires. The wires themselves of a similar guage as other "jazz" or light models. Next, the handle covering feels like a harder plastic and not rubber. This makes a somewhat different, more ticky sound when striking a drum with the handle, but surprisingly there is little sound difference on cymbals. The offset wire extension rod ends are unusual, but a quick bend fixes that. These extension rods have no detents, so the wires will always go to full spread when played. This spread is less than some other models. The reduced mass due to reduced overall size could affect volume potential. I haven't used these long enough to know their durability, but they seem to be made as well as other current models. The slight differences in sound might be consequential for pros but likely not for students. For "stirring the soup," these will work just fine.
