This series is without question the best value, simplest mallets you can buy. Not intended for really aggressive playing or marching applications, these are a simple, easy to use series that covers the full range of the instrument and a huge range of literature. The blue mallets have a clear tone with lots of rubber bands on the core. They are the most durable overall. I teach with them with most of my young students to help learn about stroke speed and weight while playing scales. They give great feedback in the hand and work for bass parts in solos.

I ordered these thinking they would be quite soft, considering they are the softest in the series. But they are actually quite hard and articulate. I would consider them to be a medium harness rather than soft.
