These hard slightly shorter, thicker handles, that feel GREAT, pull the balance point back towards the player slightly, and cushion the hand nicely with big motions. They cut like crazy above mf but can mellow for low end of runs. The tone is warmer than you'd expect with a lot less "slap" than similar mallets. You can play octaves with these on the narrow upper bars just fine.
