A composition for solo triangle - what a surprise! At some time or other, all of us must have smiled condescendingly at the triangle player, possibly without being aware of the potential hidden away in this unassuming instrument.
The object of this composition is to demonstrate the wealth of expression to be gained from this, the most inconspicuous of instruments. It was written in 1999 for the percussion ensemble "Schlagwerk Nordwest" participating in the "Jugend musiziert" competition. The ensemble won the first prize in the 2000 Federal Contest and qualified for the "contemporary music special award" with this piece.
In order to exploit the full scope of the triangle, it is essential to adhere precisely to all directions given for performance.
