Svoboda-Concerto for Marimba & Orchestra(StS)-M/Orch

The Concerto for Marimba & Orchestra, Op. 148 was composed by Czech-American composer Tomas Svoboda (1939–2022) and commissioned by the Oregon Symphony for then principal percussionist Niel DePonte, who encouraged Svoboda to write the work and gave its premiere performance. The recording by DePonte with the Oregon Symphony under conductor James DePreist earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Instrumental Soloist Performance with Orchestra in 2003. This edition is the pocket score.

The concerto runs approximately 26 minutes and is scored for marimba soloist with a full orchestra including strings, brass, winds, timpani, harp, celesta, piano, and two additional percussionists. A piano reduction score and marimba part are available separately as Op. 148a (TCS-68), and orchestral parts are available on rental from the publisher.
