Description

Completely redesigned for the modern marching percussionist, the Vic Firth Heavy Hitter Slimpad with Rim delivers the most realistic practice experience available. Engineered in collaboration with drumline experts Bill Bachman and Chris Romanowski, this pad utilizes a hard silicone playing surface to perfectly mimic the authentic feel and response of a high-tension marching snare drum.

Unmatched Articulation and Realism

The Slimpad provides a quick rebound and tight articulation that allows players to clearly hear inner notes and exact note spacing. The integrated rim design forces correct stick heights and playing zones, making it an essential tool for both beginners and advancing players looking to perfect their rimshot technique. Plus, the non-slip reverse side ensures the pad stays securely in place during aggressive practice sessions, whether you are at home or on the road.

Features:

  • Integrated Rim: Promotes accurate technique, proper stick heights, and realistic rimshots.
  • Silicone Surface: Thin, hard playing surface delivers authentic high-tension snare rebound.
  • Included Laminate: Comes with a precut laminate to provide extra articulation and a true-to-life Kevlar feel.
  • Portable Design: Non-slip reverse side makes it perfect for desktop practice or warming up on the go.
  • Dimensions: 13" Overall Diameter

I got this pad back in September and, I absolutely love how they updated it. I use it all the time on my stand and it is also a great pad for on the go light and portable would highly recommend!

I would like to start to mention that this slim pad versus the slim pad without rim are contrasting, so they will obviously not look nor feel the same. When I got my package, I would like to add that my pad arrived dirty, as if it was opened previously to shipping and they placed it in a box. As for the overall pad, it measures to be around 13", bigger than the 12" original slim pad. As for feel, it feels slightly gummier, or rather rubbery, compared to the other slim pad (which feels accurate to a marching snare drum) which some players may not prefer. The feel of it feels as if you are playing on a better variant of a RealFeel pad, if that makes sense. The rims seem to hold up for now, and seem to be of good quality. Laminate is included so you do not have to purchase a separate laminate as the older slim pad, where you had to pay $20 for it. In my opinion, the pad feels 100x better with the laminate on, but for best of both worlds, I highly recommend cutting it in half.
